OUR DRYSTONE WORK

Our work falls into two main categories. Click below for more information on each.

Why Choose The Drystone Company?

We are professional drystone wallers based in Perthshire and working throughout Scotland. Whilst we love the drystone aesthetic, it’s important to remember that at the heart of this craft is a time-tested and resilient way of building. When done properly, drystone will last for hundreds of years.

As we work to the highest standards of craftsmanship, we can guarantee that our drystone structures will last for generations.

We will design and build beautiful, bespoke drystone walls, structures, features and planting habitats that exemplify the very best of this craft. By combining the beautiful traditional skills and styles of drystone with contemporary design elements, we are passionate about bringing our work to the forefront of imaginations in outdoor design and creating drystone that suits any client or space.

Whilst our motivation as a team is to take the art of drystone to the next level through meeting clients’ aspirations for beautiful yet sustainable design, we recognise that at the heart of our craft lies standard walling contracts and we value such work. So, whether you need repairs to existing dry stone structures or walls and features built from the ground up, don’t hesitate to contact us.

A Question of Cost…

Here at The Drystone Company we struggle to get our heads around the rise of the cement or monoblocked wall. Not only do we think that drystone looks so much better but we know that as well as being vastly better for the planet, drystone is also a lot cheaper to build.

When researching cost comparisons using a straight, double-skinned, four metre long wall as the baseline, we discovered that drystone tends to be cheaper than its equivalents.

With drystone there is also no need for things like mixers or generators which again lowers costs and materials wastage is virtually non-existent meaning you only pay for exactly what is used.

A drystone wall has a life of two hundred years or more, whereas mortar has an average life of around twenty to thirty years before repointing may be necessary. This is something that is not required at all with drystone and if ever needed, drystone repairs tend to be much more straightforward to carry out.

In terms of look, sustainability, versatility and cost, drystone wins on every count, so why not get in touch to discuss your project.
